Print Cards publishes practical guidance for people designing and producing physical cards. Our editorial policy has a simple purpose: provide accurate information, clear comparisons and a useful next step for each project.
How we shape our guides
Each guide begins with the reader’s project and intended use. A playing-card creator choosing a finish has different priorities from an educator producing durable flashcards or an artist planning an oracle deck. We keep dedicated guides focused on one main task, so recommendations stay specific and actionable.
Our coverage includes custom playing cards, original game cards and prototypes, trading and casual playtest cards, tarot and oracle decks, and flashcards and learning decks. We also cover the shared production decisions behind them: print-ready artwork, dimensions, cardstock, textures, protective finishes, cutting, proofing, packaging and order economics. Readers can explore current coverage on the Print Cards blog.
Research, sources and comparisons
We check technical printing information against credible, relevant sources. Depending on the question, these may include original technical documentation, printing manufacturers’ published specifications, primary rules from rights holders, established game-design resources and current product descriptions.
Our comparisons focus on the choices that can materially change a finished deck: dimensions, materials, finish, design workflow, packaging and price. When a detail changes over time, such as a specification, product option or price, we aim to refresh it. Price examples should make their assumptions clear, including quantity, card count, stock, finish and packaging.
Evidence and practical recommendations
We separate source-based information from editorial judgment. Specifications, measurements and policies are presented as factual information from relevant sources. Recommendations explain which option suits a defined use case and why, including meaningful tradeoffs in handling, durability, appearance, workflow or cost.
The goal is not to identify one universal best card. It is to help readers make confident choices for a particular card family, budget and production goal. We do not present planned services as currently available or describe unverified results as observed tests.
Updates and corrections
Printing details can change, and errors can affect a production decision. We correct material errors when identified and update changing details where appropriate.
